Loring, Vieira Claim First POM Awards of 2025-2026

Oskaloosa--The William Penn University Athletics Booster Club has announced its August-September Players of the Month.

Football player Destynd Loring (Sr., Charleston, S.C., Sports Management) was named the male recipient, while women's volleyball player Maju Vieira (Jr., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Business Management) earned the female honor.  Loring is now a two-time winner of the monthly accolade, while Vieira's award is her first.

While the Statesmen started the year with a 5-0 record, Loring scampered for 740 rushing yards and 123 carries, averaging 6.0 yards per attempt and 148.0 yards per outing.  The senior also scored 13 rushing touchdowns during August and September.  He eclipsed the century mark in four of WPU's five contests with a high of 203 yards.  Additionally, he tied a program record with five touchdowns in a single game.

Loring had nine receptions as well for 98 yards and a score.

Through 25 matches during the two months (14-11 record for WPU), Vieira posted a team-best 213 kills (2.42 per set) on a .142 attack percentage.  She also notched 30 aces (team high), 219 digs (2.49 per set), 17 blocks, and five assists.  The junior recorded nine double-digit kill performances with a high of 17 on three occasions.  She was also good for six double-doubles (kills and digs) with a high of 21 digs.
