Statesmen of the Week: Gavin Unger and Lucy Mitchell

Oskaloosa--Men's bowler Gavin Unger (Fr., Columbus, Neb., Engineering Technology) and women's bowler Lucy Mitchell (Jr., Poulsbo, Wash., Psychology and Human Services) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of November 10-16.

Unger paced the Statesmen at the NAIA Invitational weekend, heading the way with an individual finish of 10th via a 209.0 average over five games (1,045 pins).  The freshman managed two games over 200 with a high of 266.

Unger led William Penn to a sixth-place effort in individual action on Friday, a runner-up finish in Saturday's Baker play, and an appearance in Sunday's bracket competition.

Mitchell headlined the WPU women at the NAIA Invitational, finishing third in individual action with a 211.6 average (1,058 pins).  The junior eclipsed the 200-pin mark on three occasions with a high game of 241.  She was only 33 pins away from first place.

Over the weekend, the Statesmen were fifth on Friday, third on Saturday, and reached the semifinals on Sunday.
