Sheriff, Baez Dilone earns Player of the Month Honor

Oskaloosa--The William Penn University Athletics Booster Club has announced its January Players of the Month.

Men's basketball player Foday Sheriff (Jr., Upper Darby, Pa., Business Management) earned the male honor, while women's wrestler Victoria Baez Dilone (Grad., Spain, Master's of Sport Management) was selected as the female recipient. The recognition marks the first Player of the Month award for Sheriff and the second for Baez Dilone.

Sheriff helped lead the Statesmen to a 9-1 record in January, highlighted by two ranked victories over Graceland. He recorded eight double-doubles during the month, totaling 174 points and 112 rebounds while shooting 51.1% from the field and 34.4% from three-point range. His top performance came against Peru State with 29 points and 11 rebounds. In a 77-73 win over No. 21 Graceland, he posted 16 points and 14 boards, and he added 22 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists in an 84-77 victory against Grand View.

Baez Dilone guided the Statesmen to a fourth-place team finish at the NWCA National Duals with a 2-2 dual record, earning two 10-0 technical falls over Campbellsville and No. 1 Life. She also secured a 9-1 decision against No. 3 Grand View's sixth-ranked Maya Davis. At the Midland Open, the graduate student went 4-1 to claim the silver medal, recording two pins and two technical falls.
