Five Named CSC Academic All-District

Five Named CSC Academic All-District

Oskaloosa--Five William Penn football players have been honored for strong 2023 seasons in and out of the classroom as they earned academic all-district honors from College Sports Communicators.

Liam Bryant (So., Jackson, Mo., Physical Education) paced the quintet with a 4.00 Grade Point Average, while Ethan Olivas (Jr., Eddyville, Iowa, Mechanical Engineering) is right behind him at 3.99.

Cael Crawford (Jr., Mount Vernon, Iowa, Business Management) was next with a 3.75 GPA, while Isaac Knudsen (Grad., Siloam Springs, Ark., Master's of Organizational Leadership) (3.65) and Jalen Chappell (So., Hoxie, Ala., Sports Management) (3.64) also qualified for the laurel.

Bryant and Chappell were part of an offensive line that led the Statesmen to average 347.2 total yards per game.  Olivas scored 36 points this fall as WPU's kicker, going 6-for-7 in field goals (long of 42 yards) and 18-for-21 in extra points.

Crawford punted 39 times during the fall with a 38.4 average (long of 65 yards); he landed nine punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line.  Knudsen notched nine tackles (one for loss) and one quarterback sack.

The award combines both athletic and academic achievements.  To be eligible for the award, individuals must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been enrolled at the nominating institution for one year (transfers use grades from their previous institution), and have a 3.50 Grade Point Average.  Additionally, individuals must compete in 90% of games or start in at least 66% of games.
