Pick Six Leads to Harry’s Second POW Award

Pick Six Leads to Harry’s Second POW Award

Oskaloosa--Marquis Harry (So., Pompano Beach, Fla., Business Management) took an interception the distance, and for his efforts he was chosen as Heart of America Athletic Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week Monday, presented by Musco Lighting.

The sophomore, who is now a two-time weekly recipient (both this year), guided the now-No. 21 Statesmen (6-1, 1-1 Heart North) to a 48-14 Homecoming win over Missouri Baptist last Saturday.

Harry had five tackles (1.5 for a loss), but made his presence most felt early in the second quarter.  With the Spartans in WPU's red zone, a ball was thrown toward the sideline.  Harry stepped in front of the MBU receiver, intercepted the pigskin, and sprinted untouched 86 yards for the touchdown.

His interception return is the seventh-longest touchdown in school history and the longest since 2018.

For the year, Harry now has three interceptions in addition to 29 tackles (2.5 for loss), and one pass breakup.

The weekly award is the third for the Statesmen this year.
