Sheriff Named Heart Defensive Player of the Week

Oskaloosa--Foday Sheriff (Jr., Upper Darby, Pa., Business Management) was a force all over the hardwood last week, but he definitely made his presence felt when guarding the ball as he was chosen as the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week, presented by WinWon Technologies.

Sheriff notched his first-ever weekly laurel after leading William Penn to a 3-0 start to the season.

The junior recorded two steals against Rockford last Wednesday, and then grabbed two more in each of last weekend's victories over East-West and Governors State on Friday and Saturday, respectively.  He was good for a block in the East-West triumph as well.

For the year, Sheriff has six steals and one block, while also averaging 18.0 points and 9.3 rebounds per outing.  He is shooting 67.6% from the field.

The award is the first of the year for WPU.
