Miner on All-Tournament Team at Glenn Carlson

Las Vegas, Nev.--Jayson Miner (Sr., Silvis, Ill., Business Management) was near the top of the list once again as the Statesmen men's bowling team tallied a top-10 finish at the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational Sunday and Monday.

WPU placed sixth out of 47 teams in qualifying with 8,885 pins over the span of nine regular games.  Oklahoma Christian led qualifying with 9,455 pins, but was knocked out of match play in the first round.

Like Oklahoma Christian, the navy and gold unfortunately also suffered an early exit in the bracket competition as they were defeated 3-1 in the Round of 16 by #11 seed Texas-San Antonio.

#4 seed Tennessee Southern eventually won the tournament crown.

C.J. Petrin of Oklahoma Christian led the 377-person field with 2,130 pins (236.7 average).  Miner was just two spots behind Petrin with a huge showing of 1,950 pins for a 216.7 average.  The senior earned all-tournament laurels by posting six games over 200 with a high game of 256.

Conor Fetherston (Fr., Dublin, Ireland), with a 201.3 clip, and Jake Cook (Sr., Keokuk, Iowa, Physical Education), at 192.2, also started all nine rounds.

Bryce Keykal (So., Princeton, Minn., Education) was next for William Penn, recording a 194.0 average in eight starts, while Kody Sapp (Jr., Donnelson, Iowa, Sociology) averaged 195.4 pins over five games.

Garraty Richmond (Jr., Ottumwa, Iowa, New Media) knocked down 185.0 pins in a three-game stretch, while Jared Smith (Jr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, General Accounting) (159) and Connor Rissi (So., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Psychology) (150) both started one round.

Next Up: The Statesmen are currently finishing up their Las Vegas trip by competing in the Las Vegas Collegiate Shoot-Out Tuesday and Wednesday.
