WPU Places 11th at USBC Sectionals

Fort Worth, Texas--The Statesmen men's bowling team closed out its season with a trip to the Lonestar State as it competed at USBC Sectionals Friday through Sunday.

On Saturday and Sunday at Cityview Lanes, William Penn battled in the team competition, placing 11th out of 21 teams with 12,325 pins in 64 Baker games.  Wichita State (Kan.) won the Fort Worth sectional, while Grand Canyon (Ariz.), St. Ambrose, and Lindenwood (Mo.) also advance to USBC Nationals in April.

The navy and gold's first 16-game block was their best as they managed 3,165 pins.  William Penn posted 28 games at or above 200 pins (high of 256).

Team members included Carter Boley (So., Grimes, Iowa, Engineering), Conor Fetherston (So., Dublin, Ireland, Software Engineering), Bryce Keykal (Jr., Princeton, Minn., Education), Noah Kidwell (Fr., Bettendorf, Iowa, Mechanical Engineering), Aidan Piet (Fr., Meridian, Idaho, Business Management), Garraty Richmond (Sr., Ottumwa, Iowa, New Media), Kody Sapp (Sr., Donnelson, Iowa, Industrial Technology), and Jared Smith (Sr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, General Accounting).

A few individuals also competed in the USBC Singles Sectionals event Friday with Fetherston pacing the group in 25th place overall with a 219.8 average in six games.

Keykal averaged 197.2 pins, while Boley had a 189.3 clip and Richmond posted a 169.0 mark.
