Statesmen Gain Experience at Hoosier Classic

Indianapolis, Ind.--The William Penn men's bowling team faced a challenging field at the Hoosier Classic Saturday and Sunday, finishing 36th out of 78 teams while gaining valuable experience heading into the postseason.

The Statesmen knocked down 4,940 pins across five individual games. They continued into Sunday's Baker format, adding 2,716 pins through 15 games. Their final total of 7,656 pins secured them a mid-pack finish.

Webber International University led the field with 8,709 total pins.

In individual play, Keegan Alexander of Mount Mercy topped the competition with a 238.6-pin average.

Aidan Piet (So., Meridian, Idaho, Business Management) led William Penn by posting a 227.4 average over five rounds to place ninth. Conor Fetherston (Jr., Dublin, Ireland, Software Engineering) followed with a 203.8 average, while Noah Kidwell (So., Bettendorf, Iowa, Mechanical Engineering) recorded a 198.4 average.

Connor Rissi (Sr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Psychology) posted a 187.8 average in four games, while Bryce Keykal (Sr., Princeton, Minn., Secondary Education) bowled three rounds, averaging 179.7.

Joseph Woods-Weisman (Fr., Minneapolis, Minn., New Media) averaged 180.5 across two games, and Ethan Licht (Fr., Victor, Iowa, Sports Management) competed in one game, scoring 141.

"Our scores this weekend don't reflect how well our guys actually bowled," Head Coach Cameron Foster said. "They were executing shots and making spares but just couldn't catch a break. There are a lot of positives to take into conference weekend, and I'm excited to see what this team does in the postseason."

Next Up: William Penn travels to Columbia, Mo. next Saturday and Sunday to compete in the Heart of America Athletic Championship.
