NAIA Scholar-Athlete Honors to Half Dozen

Oskaloosa--Six members of the William Penn men's track and field team were recognized for their academic excellence by being named 2024-2025 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Leading the way academically were D'Artagnon Beaver (Sr., Rockford, Ill., Human Services), Andrew Miller (So., Le Claire, Iowa, Exercise Science), and Carson Springer (So., Grimes, Iowa, Business Management), all of whom recorded a 4.00 Grade Point Average entering the spring semester.

Close behind them were Grant Hein (So., Durant, Iowa, Civil Engineering) with a 3.64 and Travis Lanier (Sr., Waipahu, Hawaii, Nursing) with a 3.58.

Micah Mills (So., Houston, Texas, Psychology) rounded out the crew with a 3.51 GPA.

For Lanier, this marks the fourth time receiving the prestigious award, while Beaver, Miller, and Carson are first-time recipients (all received one in cross country as well). Hein and Mills are first-time winners as well.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, have attended the nominating institution for one full year prior to nomination, and must appear on the sport's eligibility paperwork.
