Four Earn Academic All-District Awards
Oskaloosa--Four members of the William Penn cross country and track and field teams were honored for strong 2024-2025 seasons in and out of the classroom as they earned academic all-district honors from College Sports Communicators Tuesday.
D'Artagnon Beaver (Sr., Rockford, Ill., Human Services) and Carson Springer (So., Grimes, Iowa, Business Management) paced the quartet with identical 4.0 Grade Point Averages following the spring semester. Andrew Miller (So., Le Claire, Iowa, Exercise Science) owned a 3.95 GPA, while Micah Mills (So., Houston, Texas, Psychology) also hit the mark at 3.53.
Beaver, who is the lone two-time CSC recipient, highlighted a record-breaking school year with an All-America laurel in the 3,000-meter steeplechase run during the outdoor track and field campaign. He also won several Heart of America Athletic Conference titles in both sports.
Springer was an honorable-mention all-Heart honoree in outdoor track and field, while Miller joined him with that recognition in both track and field seasons. Miller joined Beaver as a cross country national qualifier. Mills collected all-Heart accolades as well during both indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.
The award combines both athletic and academic achievements. To be eligible for the award, individuals must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been enrolled at the nominating institution for one year (transfers use grades from their previous institution), and have a 3.50 Grade Point Average.
Additional competition criteria is also required.
