Scholar-Athlete Honors to Nine Statesmen

Oskaloosa--A total of nine Statesmen men's volleyball players were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2026 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Brady Zell (So., Wales, Wis., Business Management) paces the team with a 3.96 Grade Point Average.

Will Tyler (So., Louisville, Neb., New Media) is also above the 3.8 line at 3.89, while Taylor Brummond (Jr., Winsted, Minn., Sports Management) and his 3.73 GPA are above the 3.7 standard.

Ryan Guzman (So., Anaheim, Calif., Education) and Cezar Pedroso (Jr., Curitiba, Brazil, Software Engineering and Information Technology) lead the remaining Statesmen at 3.60.

Joao Gabriel Filippelli (Jr., Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Business Management) (3.59), Tommy Fellows (So., Shorewood, Ill., Exercise Science) (3.57), Luka DeJong (Jr., Knoxville, Iowa, Biology) (3.55), and Britten Beallis (Sr., Naperville, Ill., Business Management) (3.51) also meet the criteria.

Beallis' award is his third, while DeJong and Filippelli are each two-time laurel recipients.  Brummond, Fellows, Filippelli, Guzman, and Tyler are receiving their first accolades.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, have attended the nominating institution for one full year prior to nomination, and must appear on the sport's eligibility paperwork.
