WPU Ranked 11th in Team GPA, 16 Garner Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete Honors

Oskaloosa--The Statesmen softball team collected a plethora of academic awards as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its 2024-2025 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes and top team GPAs.

As a program, William Penn ranked 11th in the NAIA with a 3.650 combined Grade Point Average, missing out on the top 10 by just .001 point.

Additionally, a total of 16 individuals garnered the All-America Scholar-Athlete recognition.  That list includes Madie Anderson (Sr., Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Elementary Education), Kya Butler (Jr., Newton, Iowa, Sports Management), Marin Frazee (So., Sioux City, Iowa, Exercise Science), Chelsey Huff (Sr., Douds, Iowa, Exercise Science), Jessica Lathrop (Fr., Ankeny, Iowa, Exercise Science), Peyton Naranjo (So., Ripon, Calif., Biology), Laila Pelds (Sr., Pleasant Hill, Iowa, Elementary Education), Rylee Riesberg (So., Ankeny, Iowa, Exercise Science), Elyse Rios (So., Iowa City, Iowa, Business Management), Maci Rutledge (Fr., Chadron, Neb., Nursing), Laila Smith (So., Olympia, Wash., Elementary Education), Peyton Smith (Fr., Dewar, Iowa, Undecided), Tori Smith (So., Olympia, Wash., Secondary Education), Madisyn Tracy (Jr., Joplin, Mo., Nursing), Niyah Tyroum (Fr., Tacoma, Wash., Business Management), and Emily Winkler (Jr., North Platte, Neb., Exercise Science).

To be eligible for the award, honorees were required to have a 3.5 Grade Point Average during the 2024-2025 school year.  A total of 1,010 student-athletes within the NAIA received the laurel.
