The William Penn women's bowling team is again figuring to be in the mix as it heads into the 2025-2026 campaign.
In her fifth year leading the Statesmen, Head Coach Kirstin Foster, who is also in her first year as head coach of the men's team, guided WPU to a runner-up placing at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship last year. The navy and gold qualified for the NAIA Nationals, winning one match at the Championship.
Lucy Mitchell (Jr., Poulsbo, Wash., Psychology and Human Services), who was a one-time tournament winner a year ago, will lead William Penn this season. She owned a 179.6 average.
Danielle Fincham (Jr., Surprise, Ariz., Exercise Science), at 179.1, and Kelcey Aczon (Sr., Las Vegas, Nev., Nursing), at 173.8, also played major roles for their team in 2024-2025, while Ashley Gorman (So., Stillwater, Minn., Exercise Science) (187.3 average) and Hannalee Songer (So., Ottumwa, Iowa, Business Management) (169.0) have had success for WPU as well.
Freshmen Alaina Degenstein (Tacoma, Wash., Nursing) and Alyssa Tanner (Fr., Traverse City, Mich., Sports Management) are projected to be impactful in their first collegiate years, while Brianna Thompson (Jr., Campbellsport, Wis., Psychology and Sociology), who also competes for the WPU shotgun sports team, will be looked upon for more depth.
The Statesmen start the year Saturday and Sunday at the Five Seasons Classic in Cedar Rapids.
The navy and gold will make their annual trip to Las Vegas in December for a pair of tournaments, while the regular season concludes at the Hoosier Classic in February.
