Season-Low Score Helps Franco to Heart Laurel

Oskaloosa--Gabriana Franco (Jr., Tracy, Calif., Exercise Science) finished under par in one of her two rounds last week and that led her to be named Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week Monday, presented by Mammoth.

Franco collected her first honor of the season (fourth in her career) after leading William Penn to a second-place effort at the Bethany Classic last Monday and Tuesday.

The junior opened the tournament with two birdies and 15 pars as she posted a season-best one-under 71 on Monday.  She then tacked on two more birdies in addition to an eagle en route to a 78 as she finished second out of 36 total players at 149.

For the year, Franco owns a 79.4 average over 16 rounds.  She has recorded eight rounds in the 70s (low of 71), and has been in the top 10 on six occasions, including a pair of runner-up placings.

WPU has now claimed five weekly Heart awards this year.
