Ferguson, Dinehart Earn Second-Team All-Heart Recognition
Oskaloosa--Two members of the Statesmen women's lacrosse team were honored for exceptional campaigns as the 2024 all-Heart of America Athletic Conference teams were announced Wednesday.
Emily Ferguson (Sr., Waterloo, N.Y., Exercise Science) and Catrina Dinehart (Grad., Palmyra, N.Y., Master's of Sports Management) were two of the 16 individuals who were chosen for the league's second team. An additional 16 players earned first-team laurels as well.
The award is the second in Ferguson's Statesmen career (first-teamer in 2023), while Dinehart is a first-time honoree.
Ferguson headlined WPU's offense with 35 goals and two assists for 37 total points. She also recorded 38 draw controls, 12 ground balls, and three caused turnovers.
The senior managed a season-high seven goals against Mount Mercy on March 23. Ferguson produced goals in eight of William Penn's 10 games and scored multiple times in each of those eight outings.
Dinehart owned a 2-8 record with a 16.80 Goals Against Average. The graduate student tallied 113 saves on a 40.2% save rate. She also recorded 32 ground balls.
Dinehart hit double figures in saves on six occasions with a season-best 16 stops versus Missouri Baptist on March 27.
Kaylen Moore of Benedictine was named Heart Player of the Year, while her teammate Chanterra Allen garnered the Offensive Player of the Year laurel. Anaya Lopez of Culver-Stockton was tabbed as the league's Defensive Player of the Year, while Abby Vanderwarren of St. Ambrose won the Newcomer of the Year award.
Culver-Stockton's Kaelin Quarles collected Freshman of the Year recognition, and Madison Reed (Culver-Stockton) picked up the Assistant Coach of the Year accolade. Angelia Blythe of Mount Mercy was chosen by her peers as the Heart's Coach of the Year.
