Statesmen Fall to No. 21 Central Methodist

Oskaloosa--The William Penn women's soccer team was unable to keep pace with nationally ranked Central Methodist, falling 3-0 in Heart of America Athletic Conference action Saturday.

The Statesmen (1-5-1, 0-3 Heart) struggled to generate offensive chances, finishing with just three shots compared to 11 for the No. 21 Eagles (5-1-1, 3-0 Heart), who also posted a 7-0 edge in shots on goal.

Central Methodist broke through early when a William Penn own goal in the 11th minute opened the scoring. The Eagles doubled their lead at the 30:49 mark and capped the first-half surge with an unassisted strike in the 44th minute to secure the 3-0 decision.

William Penn's best opportunities came from Anna Museler (Jr., Dresden, Germany, Engineering), Elycia Cooley (Sr., Galveston, Texas, Biology), and Sian Bah (Sr., London, England, Political Science), who each recorded a shot.

"Tough day for us. Honestly, a tough couple of weeks. It's hard being on the wrong end of results because the girls are doing many things quite well," said Head Coach Kaleb Preston. "We got beat by the better team today, but we are competing so much better than this program has in recent years. It's only a matter of time before things start working out for us, and this group deserves it."
