Records Fall at Nationals

Gainesville, Fla.--Adedoyin Aderibigbe (Fr., Cedar Hill, Texas, Sociology) and Crystal Shaw (Fr., Austin, Texas, Applied Computer Science) showed they belong on the national stage as they competed at the 46th Annual U.S. Marines NAIA Women's Indoor Track and Field National Championship Thursday and Friday.

Although they did not reach the podium, both individuals broke their own school records.

Aderibigbe highlighted the week by placing 10th in the 60-meter dash with a school-record time of 7.56 seconds.  The freshman, who broke her own program mark, was just .03 seconds from qualifying for the finals.

She also finished 20th in the 200-meter dash in 24.90 seconds.

Shaw posted a top-15 effort in the triple jump, ending up 14th at 37-11.5, matching her teammate by also snapping her own record.  The freshman was 23rd in the long jump as well with a mark of 17-8.

Marian (Ind.) won the national title with 51 points.

"These ladies just keep rising to the occasion and breaking records," Head Coach Victoria Vinokur said.  "For them to be just freshmen, and doing what they did here at indoor nationals, they have really bright futures ahead."
