Statesmen Continue to Progress at Central Methodist and Central Invitational

Fayette, Mo./Pella--The Statesmen women's track and field team competed at the Central Methodist Invitational on Friday and Saturday, while also participating in the Central Invitational on Friday.

At Central Methodist Invitational

Ellasa Horton (So., Waterloo, Iowa, Human Services) led the way for William Penn's sprinters, earning a 10th-place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.47 seconds.

Miracle Crawford-George (Jr., Canyon Springs, Calif., Kinesiology) had a strong showing across three events. She finished seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 136-9, and also placed 15th in both the discus throw (106-7) and the shot put (34-5.5).

At Central Invitational

The Statesmen were led by Roselaure Fuller (Sr., Pella, Iowa, Nursing), who secured a 28th-place finish by clocking a time of 5:37.52.

"Our women did well this weekend. They are continuing the trajectory of how they started off the season and continued to improve in specific aspects of their events," Head Coach Victoria Vinokur said.  "Some improved times and distances, while others improved specific adjustments to their technique. We have a hard-working crew, and it shows."

Next Up: William Penn travels to Mount Vernon next Saturday to compete in the Cornell Invitational.
