William Penn Splits Squads, Gear Up for Conference Championship
Des Moines/Indianola--The William Penn women's track and field team split up to compete at two meets last Friday and Saturday as they continued preparations for the postseason.
At Simpson
Roselaure Fuller (Sr., Pella, Iowa, Nursing) led the way for the Statesmen, placing 28th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.13.
At Grand View
Ellysse Johns (Fr., Houston, Texas, Psychology) paced the sprinters, finishing seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.87 seconds.
Allison Read (Sr., Austin, Texas, Exercise Science) recorded a 14th-place finish in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at 13.45 seconds.
In the field events, Isabella Fulks (Fr., Cypress, Texas, Nursing) claimed ninth place in the hammer throw with a mark of 118-4.
"It was a mixed weekend for our women. We sat some to rest them for the conference tournament while others were trying to either better their marks or qualify for conference," said Head Coach Victoria Vinokur. "Overall, we are happy to have a healthy and strong crew going into the tournament this upcoming weekend."
Next Up: William Penn travels to Fayette, Mo., next Friday and Saturday to compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship.
