WPU Swept by #8 Park

Oskaloosa--The William Penn women's volleyball team came up short against the top program in the league as it fell 3-0 to #8 Park in Heart of America Athletic Conference action Saturday.

The Statesmen (12-12, 6-5 Heart), which lost by scores of 15-25, 14-25, 13-25, was outhit .325-.039.

The hosts were unable to find any rhythm in the setback, tying the Pirates (16-2, 10-0 Heart) just once on the afternoon.

Riley Hungate (So., Joliet, Ill., Business Management) paced the navy and gold with seven kills, while Alyvia Johnson (Jr., Owatonna, Minn., Business Management) and Jade Melton (Sr., Hallsville, Mo., Psychology) both added five winners.  Johnson had a solid defensive outing with 11 digs.

Kaya Caprini (So., Minneapolis, Minn., Psychology) headlined the defense with 18 digs, while Patricia De Souza (Jr., Sao Paulo, Brazil, Fine Arts) tallied three block assists.  Overall, WPU lost the blocks battle 9-5.

Next Up: William Penn travels to Cedar Rapids next Tuesday to face Mount Mercy in Heart play at 7 p.m.
