Statesmen Garner 14 NAIA Scholar-Athlete Accolades

Oskaloosa--A huge group of 14 William Penn women's volleyball players were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2025 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Lydia Huston (Jr., Kansas City, Mo., Biology) tops the squad with a 4.0 Grade Point Average entering the fall semester.

The quartet of Maddy Gustafson (So., Marion, Iowa, Psychology and Human Services) (3.97), Emalee Young (Jr., O'Fallon, Mo., Nursing) (3.97), Victoria Young (So., Sylvania, Ohio, Biology) (3.96), and Hailee Pesek (So., New Hampton, Iowa, Nursing) (3.93) are next in the 3.9-3.99 range.

Mariah Reed (So., Fulton, Mo., Business Management) falls in the 3.8-3.89 range at 3.83, while individuals in the 3.7-3.79 group include Taylor Berg (So., Corpus Christi, Texas, Exercise Science) (3.79), Rylie Hamilton (So., Bondurant, Iowa, Elementary Education) (3.78), and Khiani Jackson (Sr., St. Joseph, Mo., Psychology) (3.73).

Kaya Caprini (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn., Psychology) is guiding the 3.6-3.69 duo at 3.63, while Emma Gresch (Sr., Waukesha, Wis., Sports Management) is at 3.61.

The remaining trio features Joceline Martinez (Sr., Orange County, Calif., Psychology) (3.56), Emma Hynick (Sr., Monticello, Iowa, Human Services) (3.51), and Emilie Bojorquez-McFadden (Jr., Surprise, Ariz., Biology) (3.50).

The award is the second for Bojorquez-McFadden and Caprini, while the remaining Statesmen are all first-time honorees.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, have attended the nominating institution for one full year prior to nomination, and must appear on the sport's eligibility paperwork.
