Oskaloosa-- The William Penn women's wrestling team hosted Central Methodist on Wednesday for a Heart of America Athletic Conference dual where the Statesmen defeated the Eagles 40-7, only dropping one match of the night. The evening also served as the Statesmen senior night.

WPU (11-3, 5-0 Heart) jumped out to an early 10-0 lead as Central Methodist (3-4, 3-4 Heart) forfeited at 103 and 110 pounds. Lily Zapata (So., Lewisville, Texas, Sociology) and Teya Garner (Jr., San Antonio, Texas, Exercise Science) received the forfeits for the navy and gold.

117-pounder Mia Palumbo (Grad., Oak Lawn, Ill., Master's of Sports Management) extended the Statesmen's lead with a pinfall in 1:29, pushing the score to 15-0.

Tatiana Paragas (Fr., Honolulu, Hawaii, Exercise Science) followed with a technical fall victory at 124 pounds, widening the Statesmen's advantage to 19-1.

At 131 pounds, Kendall Bostelman (Sr., Napoleon, Ohio, Kinesiology) dominated with a highlight 19-second pinfall. She was followed by 138-pounder Esther Kolawole (So., Akure, Nigeria, Kinesiology), who secured a first-period technical fall to push the Statesmen ahead 28-1.

With the dual already clinched, Maeley Elsbury (So., Chelsea, Iowa, Undecided) secured a come-from-behind pinfall victory at the 3:53 mark.

Central Methodist notched its lone victory of the night at 160 pounds. Piper Fowler (Fr., Cleveland, Tenn., Psychology) responded at 180 pounds, putting the Statesmen back in the win column with a 10-0 technical fall.

Closing out the decisive dual, Phoebe Burt (Sr., Coralville, Iowa, Sociology) delivered the clutch moment of the night. Trailing by three, she hit a four-point throw at the buzzer to secure a 5-4 victory as William Penn completed the dominant 40-7 win.
