Ogunsanya Secures NAIA Weekly Honor
Oskaloosa-- Christianah Ogunsanya (So., Akure, Nigeria, Kinesiology) delivered a dominant showing on Sunday, securing NAIA Women's Wrestler of the Week honors for her standout performance.
Ogunsanya's national award is the third of her career (first this year) following her 4-0 finish at the For Her Duals on Sunday.
Ogunsanya opened the second half of her sophomore campaign by outscoring her opponents 42-4, earning three technical falls and a dominant decision in the process.
Ogunsanya ripped through her first two opponents in Iowa City, earning back-to-back technical falls over Indiana Tech's Elizabeth Dollar and No. 13 Sigrun Metzger of Ottawa (Kan.).
She then faced her toughest test in Life University's top-ranked Salyna Shotwell, but answered the call with a decisive 11-4 victory.
In the title dual of the Duals, took on Ava Bayless of NCAA Division 1 Iowa. Ogunsanya stayed unbeaten on the day with a 10-0 technical fall.
For the year, Ogunsanya is 5-0 with four technical falls.
