WPU Drops Pair of Games on the Road

WPU Drops Pair of Games on the Road

Fayette, Mo.--The Statesmen softball team failed to produce much offense Monday as it was swept by Central Methodist in a Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader.

In contests rescheduled from last Saturday, William Penn (13-25, 5-11 Heart) fell by scores of 4-0 and 2-1.

The visitors were limited to just four hits in the opener with Abby Wilson (Sr., Calgary, Alberta, Biology) recording two of them.

The second game of the day was a more competitive battle with WPU getting on the board first.  Allyson Stewart (Sr., Delta, B.C., Nursing) broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third as she drove in Wilson with a single.

Unfortunately, the Eagles (26-8, 13-3 Heart) rallied with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and held on for the victory.  The Statesmen again finished with four hits in the nightcap.

Chelsey Huff
(So., Douds, Iowa, Exercise Science) pitched well in a complete game, giving up two runs on six hits.  She struck out two with two walks.
