Jackson, Esser Earn Scholar-Athlete Honors

Oskaloosa--Two Statesmen women's basketball players were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2025-2026 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Cortlynn Jackson (Jr., Des Moines, Iowa, Sports Management) leads WPU with a 3.78 Grade Point Average entering the spring.  Tianna Esser (Jr., Lena, Ill., Elementary Education) is closely behind at 3.77.

Jackson is now a two-time honoree, while Esser's award is her first.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, have attended the nominating institution for one full year prior to nomination, and must appear on the sport's eligibility paperwork.
