William Penn Defense Falls Short in Loss to Park

William Penn Defense Falls Short in Loss to Park

Oskaloosa--The William Penn women's soccer team couldn't withstand Park's relentless offense Tuesday night, falling 7-1 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play.

The Statesmen (2-13-1, 1-11 Heart) were outshot 13-10 by the Pirates (8-4-3, 6-3-3 Heart), including a 10-5 deficit in shots on goal.

Park's attack came out firing early, netting its first goal just four minutes into the match and adding six more before the halftime whistle.

Offensively, William Penn struggled to generate opportunities in the first half, recording only three shots.

The second half, however, showed a stronger effort from the Statesmen as they settled into their rhythm and held Park scoreless the rest of the way.

Their persistence paid off when Lilly Cote (Sr., Sioux City, Iowa, Psychology) connected with India Foger (Sr., Las Vegas, Nev., Psychology), who buried the shot past the goalkeeper for William Penn's lone goal.

Cristina Velazquez Miranda (Fr., Antequera, Spain, Exercise Science) and Anna Museler (Jr., Dresden, Germany, Engineering) each tallied two shots to lead the team's offensive efforts across the match.

Up Next: William Penn will close out its 2025 season Saturday, celebrating Senior Night against Heart rival Grand View at 4:30 p.m. at Drost Field.
